This work claims to study and analyze planned obsolescence from a critical perspective, to address the research question of whether promoting sustainable consumption, based on the repair of products, can help counteract the social effects of this phenomenon. In this regard, it is argued that encouraging repair and extending the lifespan of goods constitutes an effective alternative to the consequences derived from planned obsolescence, consistent with the principle of sustainable consumption. To achieve this objective, it will be employed a dogmatic methodology based on the review and analysis of legal norms on the subject, as well as national and foreign doctrine.
